Ho Chi Minh City, the economic engine and a symbol of innovation for the entire country, is firmly asserting its position on the path of international integration. With an economic scale reaching approximately VND 3.03 quadrillion and a network of over 500,000 enterprises, the City contributes more than 20% to the national GDP and over 25% of total state budget revenue. Aiming for double-digit growth breakthroughs in the new era, the City is proactively shifting its development model toward depth, utilizing productivity, knowledge, and green transformation as its core pillars.

KEY PROJECTS & INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Ho Chi Minh City is accelerating its strategy to shift the value chain and transform into a green, smart eco-city. Adhering to the spirit of Resolution No. 31-NQ/TW of the Politburo on the development orientations and tasks of Ho Chi Minh City, the creation of a synchronous infrastructure system and modern urban spaces serves as a solid foundation for the City to achieve breakthroughs and deep integration.

In 2026, 58 key and urgent infrastructure projects for the 2026 - 2030 period proposed by the Department of Construction, with a total capital demand of over VND 340 trillion, focus on pivotal clusters of works shaping the stature of the future:

Urban Railway Network and Strategic Transport Network

Priority is given to accelerating urban railway projects such as Metro Line.2 (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong section) and Metro Line 5 Phase 1 (Bay Hien Crossroads - Saigon Bridge section). Together, these projects will establish the backbone of a modern public transport system while supporting transit-oriented urban development and the expansion of smart city infrastructure

Maritime Infrastructure and Regional Connectivity

Focusing on completing regional transport arteries and the seaport system through the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway expansion project, the My Thuy intersection project, alongside the Cat Lai - Phu Huu. These investments will enhance regional connectivity and reinforce the City's position as a leading logistics and supply chain hub.

Urban Reconstruction and Connectivity Infrastructure

Upgrading service spaces, resolving gateway traffic challenges, and executing large-scale urban refurbishment with iconic projects such as Thu Thiem 4 Bridge, Can Gio Bridge, and Binh Tien Bridge and Road, combined with the Ben Nha Rong - Khanh Hoi Cultural Park construction project to create modern, livable eco-urban models.

Green Infrastructure and Climate Change Adaptation

Implementing mega-projects for environmental remediation and flood control, such as the Xuyen Tam Canal environmental restoration and dredging project, the Hy Vong Canal improvement, and the wastewater collection and treatment system for the West Saigon basin. These initiatives will strengthen climate resilience and support the development of a safer and more sustainable city.

Under the theme “City Diplomacy: A Driving Force for Innovation and Sustainable Development” the 3rd Friendship Dialogue in 2026 focuses on discussing strategic priorities, including smart city building, the development of a next-generation seaport-logistics ecosystem, and an international financial center. The event attracts the attendance of Government Leaders, representatives from central Ministries and agencies, Leaders of Ho Chi Minh City along with Southern localities, international local leadership delegations, international organizations, experts, and domestic and foreign enterprises. The deep engagement of the delegates provides an important foundation to help the City translate discussion contents into concrete action programs and cooperative projects, strongly promoting public-private partnerships to unleash global resources, while affirming the City's efforts toward prosperous and sustainable development.
