Economic Profile and Key IndustriesThe Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region is a provincial-level administrative region located in southern China, with Nanning as its capital. Guangxi covers an area of approximately 237,600 square kilometres, has a population of more than 50.37 million, and boasts a coastline of approximately 1,595 kilometres. The Region is one of China's principal trade gateways to Southeast Asia and occupies a strategic position in China–ASEAN economic cooperation. Its economy is driven by border logistics, international trade, manufacturing, energy, agricultural processing, the aluminium industry, and coastal tourism.Supported by an extensive network of land border crossings, railways, and seaports directly connected with Viet Nam, Guangxi serves as a key logistics hub within regional supply chains. As part of its new development strategy, the Region is accelerating digital transformation, expanding the application of artificial intelligence (AI), developing smart logistics, advancing the green economy, and upgrading cross-border transport infrastructure to enhance its international competitiveness.

Over the years, Guangxi has consolidated its position as a leading hub for China–ASEAN cooperation, achieving significant progress across multiple sectors. Nanning hosts a wide range of annual trade and economic cooperation events between China and ASEAN Member States, while the Beibu Gulf Port is steadily developing into one of southern China's major maritime logistics hubs. At the same time, Guangxi continues to invest in renewable energy, advanced processing industries, and international multimodal transport infrastructure to strengthen regional connectivity and support the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).Cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and Guangxi has also produced positive outcomes in trade, logistics, tourism, and investment. Regular trade fairs, business forums, and cross-border business matching activities have created favourable opportunities for enterprises from both sides to expand commercial partnerships. Guangxi remains one of the Chinese localities maintaining the most vibrant trade relations with Viet Nam, particularly in agricultural products, logistics, and cross-border e-commerce.
Looking toward the future, particularly as Ho Chi Minh City accelerates its development into a regional logistics, financial, and international trade hub for Southeast Asia, Guangxi is regarded as a strategic partner with considerable potential for deeper cooperation. Ho Chi Minh City looks forward to expanding cooperation and attracting investment from Guangxi in the following priority areas:
Border Logistics and Transport Infrastructure: Strengthen supply chain connectivity, develop smart logistics systems, and enhance the efficiency of cross-border transportation.

E-commerce and the Digital Economy: Promote cooperation in cross-border e-commerce platforms, digital payment systems, and digital trade.

Processing Industries and Supporting Industries: Encourage investment in agricultural processing, new materials manufacturing, and supporting industries.

Renewable Energy and the Green Economy: Expand cooperation in solar and wind energy, energy-efficient technologies, and carbon emissions reduction.

Smart Cities and Innovation: Promote the exchange of experience in digital urban governance, the application of artificial intelligence (AI), and the development of smart infrastructure to support sustainable growth.
