The event was held to acknowledge and express gratitude for the support extended by international localities to the City during its recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. At the same time, it established a platform to share recovery experiences, promote sub-national cooperation, and showcase Ho Chi Minh City as a dynamic, compassionate, open, and integrated metropolis. Through this, FD 2022 reaffirmed the City’s proactive role, global appeal, and rising standing on the international stage, while laying the foundation for the City’s Friendship Dialogue mechanism in subsequent years.
FD 2022 achieved impressive results, welcoming leaders from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, City Leadership, and 118 international delegates across 23 delegations from 24 sister localities in 12 countries. Through 16 bilateral meetings and diverse side activities, the City signed an MOU with Champasak Province (Laos) and advanced deep cooperation commitments in economics, science and technology, healthcare, education, and culture with major localities across Asia, Europe, Australia, and the United States. These outcomes laid the groundwork for formulating the Strategic Project to Elevate Ho Chi Minh City’s Foreign Affairs through 2030, with a Vision toward 2045.
