The event will take place in-person from September 10 to 12, 2026, across the City, and is expected to gather approximately 500 to 700 domestic and international delegates and guests. Participants include leaders of international localities holding friendship and cooperative relations with the City, representatives of international organizations, diplomatic and consular missions, foreign experts, business executives, and international media agencies.
FD 2026 aims to effectively implement foreign affairs and international integration guidelines in the new era, enhancing diplomacy to serve economic development and multilateral diplomacy, while strengthening cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and its international partners and localities. The event also seeks to promote the image of the City as a dynamic, creative, welcoming, and integrated metropolis with a favorable investment climate, while affirming its capacity to host large-scale international events.
The centerpiece of the event is the Mayors' Conference, scheduled for the morning of September 11 at Pullman Vung Tau Hotel. The Conference focuses on advancing international cooperation in marine economy, logistics, infrastructure connectivity, trade and investment, innovation, digital transformation, green growth, and sustainable development.
In the afternoon of the same day, three thematic discussion sessions will take place, including: Local cooperation in smart city development; Smart ports and next-generation logistics hubs; and International cooperation in developing the Ho Chi Minh City International Financial Center. These sessions aim to connect local governments with businesses and international organizations, thereby translating dialogue frameworks into concrete initiatives, projects, and cooperative programs.
Within the framework of FD 2026, several exchange, promotional, and public diplomacy activities will also be organized, such as upgrading the International Friendship Symbol at Bach Dang Wharf Park, holding a Friendship Connection program and a Welcome Reception, as well as conducting sightseeing and tourism experience activities alongside a cultural performance at Tam Thang Tower.
On September 12, international delegations, international organizations, and foreign enterprises will participate in a tour program with two options: visiting and holding working sessions at Tan Cang - Cai Mep International Terminal (TCIT), or exploring prominent historical and cultural sites across Vung Tau Ward.
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has assigned the Department of Foreign Affairs as the lead agency and standing advisory body responsible for organizing the event, coordinating with relevant departments, agencies, localities, and partners to execute thematic content, protocol, logistics, media communications, delegate receptions, and all activities within the framework of FD 2026.
