Mr. Tomohide Sato has served as Vice Governor of Tokyo since July 2026. Prior to his current position, he held a number of senior leadership posts within the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, including Director General of the Bureau of General Affairs and Director General of the Bureau of Social Welfare. Throughout his career, he has been involved in policy coordination, local administration, social welfare and public health, COVID-19 response, and preparations for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. He has over 35 years of experience in public administration since joining the Tokyo Metropolitan Government in 1990.
